History of Read Write Inc.

Ruth Miskin CBE
History of Read Write Inc.

I created the programme Read Write Inc. in 2002 (then known as RML). I worked with a small group of people in writing, illustrating and developing it, as well as providing training and essential administration.

In 2006 we went into partnership with Oxford University Press (OUP). It took over the copyright of resources, and assumed responsibility for editing and publishing all Read Write Inc. materials.

We continued to be responsible for all the training, and renamed the organisation Ruth Miskin Training. We now have 150 trainers, as well as dedicated teams for training, development, bookings, filming, and software and IT.

We continue to work with OUP to keep Read Write Inc. resources up to date and to create new ones to improve children’s reading. Year by year, the programme is more effective.
