Publisher responds to challenge from schools minister to provide schoolchildren with affordable, great books.
For a limited time, Penguin Classics is offering a set of 100 books to any schools for just £100, or 30 sets for £3000. The intention is to make a wide range of texts available to children to read for pleasure, outside of the curriculum.
The offer stems from Schools Minister Nick Gibb’s challenge to publishers:
“I want every secondary school to have a stock of classics such as Great Expectations, Pride and Prejudice and Jane Eyre so that whole classes across the country can enjoy them together.”
The bundle of books contains a wide variety of genres, ranging from Charles Darwin’s groundbreaking ‘On the Origin of Species’ to Mary Shelley’s timeless horror ‘Frankenstein’ and is available until June 30 only.
